Procurement, production and service organization department
The Procurement, Production, and Services Department within the central office of Moldcoop coordinates the activities of cooperative organizations and enterprises in key economic areas: the production of consumer goods, the procurement of agricultural products, and the provision of commercial services to the population.
Cooperative Production with Tradition and Added Value
The consumer cooperation industry in the Republic of Moldova plays a significant role in the production of goods for mass consumption. It focuses on key sectors such as:
- the production of bread and bakery products,
- confectionery and pastry,
- the manufacture of processed meat and canned fruits, vegetables, and meats,
- alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages,
- the distillation, rectification, and blending of alcoholic beverages,
- the production of ethyl alcohol and related products.
Currently, the cooperative production network includes:
- 22 operational bakery units,
- 3 canning enterprises (located in Chișinău, Ocnița, and Cimișlia),
- one technological enterprise specialized in the manufacture and repair of equipment for the milling, food processing, beverage, and tobacco industries, as well as in installation, maintenance, and testing services for various machines, equipment, and mechanisms,
- 17 confectionery and pastry sections and 3 sausage production sections,
- an experimental production and advertising plant – Recoop of Moldcoop, which focuses on advertising, rough wood processing, wood impregnation, and the manufacture of wooden articles.
Through this wide range of activities, consumer cooperation contributes actively to food security and the valorization of local resources.
Strategic Procurement from Local Sources
Another key area coordinated by the Department is the procurement of agricultural products and raw materials of both animal and plant origin, aimed at strengthening the national food market.
The cooperative system includes:
- 3 specialized procurement enterprises at the national level,
- 20 legally registered collection enterprises,
- approximately 900 specialized points and procurement branches for agricultural products.
These enterprises benefit from a well-developed technical and material infrastructure for the collection, storage, and processing of various products: meat and derivatives, dairy, eggs, cereals, potatoes, vegetables, fruits, honey, sunflower seeds, nuts, raw hides, and medicinal plants. These products serve the domestic market, the industrial sector, as well as exports.
Commercial Services Supporting Local Communities
The Department also manages and coordinates activities in the field of market services provided to the population. Currently, consumer cooperation operates:
- 44 commercial markets,
- located in 24 districts across the country,
- with a total area of 22.1 hectares,
- and approximately 8,700 sales spaces for consumer goods.
Through these markets, consumers gain direct access to fresh, local, and diverse products, while local producers benefit from efficient distribution channels.
The Procurement, Production, and Services Department is a true center of expertise within Moldcoop, playing a decisive role in the modernization of the cooperative system, supporting local producers, and contributing to the sustainable development of the national economy.
