Chișinău, September 12, 2024 – In September, the Congress of Consumer Cooperation of the Republic of Moldova took place — a landmark event in the history of the cooperative movement, organized by the Central Union of Consumer Cooperatives of the Republic of Moldova – Moldcoop. The event brought together representatives of cooperative organizations from across the country, public authorities, institutional partners, and active members of the consumer cooperation sector.

During the Congress proceedings, Mr. VASILE CARAUȘ was re-elected as President of the Moldcoop Executive Board, and the updated composition of the Executive Board was also elected. The elections were conducted in a climate of transparency and responsibility, reflecting the shared will of the cooperative movement to continue sustainable development and the modernization of the sector.

The key moment of the Congress was the adoption of the Development Strategy for Consumer Cooperation for the period 2025–2030 – a highly important document that outlines the priority directions of action for the next five years.

The Strategy focuses on:
✅ Strengthening the institutional capacities of cooperative organizations;
✅ Digitizing and modernizing commercial infrastructure;
✅ Developing local trade and supporting local producers;
✅ Involving youth and promoting cooperative education;
✅ Improving the living standards of cooperative members through quality services and sustainable solutions.

The Congress reaffirmed Moldcoop’s commitment to act in the spirit of cooperative values – solidarity, responsibility, equity, and community development – while also adapting to the new economic and social realities of the Republic of Moldova.
